Year 11 Section
2010-2011
Hi there everyone!
I can’t quite believe we’re into Year 11! How quick have the last four years gone? It only seemed yesterday that I was greeting you all in the hall in Lower School on your first day at Dwr-y-Felin in September 2006.
We’ve come so far together and I couldn’t be more proud of you ALL! We had a fantastic two years together in Lower School – meeting new friends and setting good standards in behaviour and work. You had a successful transition from Lower to Upper School culminating in excellent Key Stage 3 results.
Last year began with your option choices and after a few glitches everyone established a routine. Many of you have had to realise the importance of being prepared and meeting deadlines for coursework and assessments. Key Stage 4 can be overwhelming and it can be difficult to find a balance between school life and your social life.
At the end of Year 10, all of you had the opportunity to sit GCSE examinations in Science and some of you had the opportunity in Art. I hope they made you realise how important this final year at Dwr-y-Felin is going to be. Each of you has the capability of exceeding your potential at the end Year 11.
Many of you, in the Summer Term, successfully completed your Work Experience week. I hope it gave you the opportunity to have an insight into possible careers for the future.
Finally, here we are in Year 11. This year will go by in a flash and before you know it you all will be sitting your GCSE’s! All I can say is BE PREPARED! For those of you who think it’s too late – IT’S NOT! It is never too late to change the future. If you have any problems – TELL SOMEONE! These can be sorted.
So, good luck for Year 11 and make it your best year yet!
Miss D Lewis
