Year 10 Section Miss Lewis2010-2011

Your first year in Upper School has now been completed. Many of you were apprehensive at the start of the year but you quickly settled in to your new surroundings and feel quite at home. I would like to take the opportunity to congratulate you as a year group for the excellent results/levels you have achieved at the end of key stage 3.

You have recently chosen the subjects you wish to study at GCSE. I would encourage you all to give your very best and make the most of every opportunity you are presented with. Charles Darwin once said “a man who dares to waste one hour of time has not discovered the value of life”

As you enter your final key stage at Dwr-y-Felin, it is important for you to realise the challenges that face you. Your workload will increase, as will the standard of work expected of you at GCSE level. You will need to be well organised and committed to your studies. A high standard in relation to attendance is also extremely important if you are to fulfil your potential.

It has been so pleasing for me this year, to see so many of you develop and mature into responsible young people. I often tell staff how fortunate I am to have such a wonderful year group. I look forward to seeing you continue to blossom and develop throughout year 10 and I wish you every success.
