Duke of Edinburgh Award
The Award scheme provides an opportunity for young people to follow an enjoyable, challenging and rewarding programme of personal development. The Award is widely recognised by employers and people involved in further education.
The scheme has been operating in the school for 25 years, with hundreds of pupils gaining their Bronze and Silver Award. Many have completed their Gold and some have gone on to be leaders themselves.
The Award in open to any young person between 14 and 25. There are 14 components to Bronze and Silver Award.
- Community Service (helping people in the community).
- Skill (covering hobbies & interests).
- Physical Recreation (sport, dance & fitness).
- Expedition (training for, planning and completing a journey on foot with overnight camp).
It will take you 6 months to complete your Bronze and a further 6 months to gain your Silver.
