Subject Information
All pupils study Guidance as part of their curriculum. The topics taught each year can be found through the links on the right.
The Guidance Programme in Years 10 and 11 is delivered in a single lesson every fortnight. Although it does not lead to a GCSE certificate, pupils will leave with a Progress File presentation wallet containing their personal statement, a careers action plan and “Compact” Certificate.
The Guidance Department makes a strong contribution to the school’s anti-bullying programme by providing education to combat bullying, and the issue of an anti-bullying questionnaire throughout the school.
The Department also works closely with the Careers Advisor (Mrs Alison O’Leary) who provides specialist careers advice in the classroom and in the form of one to one interviews. Mrs O’Leary represents Careers Wales West who are based at Llandarcy.
Lastly, the Department further contributes to the extra-curricular activities by organising visits, careers conventions, running a careers club and the Upper School Golf Team.
