The main aim of studying Biology is to develop a life-long interest and enjoyment in the study of living organisms and to promote respect for all forms of life. Awareness of the significance of biological principles and concepts in personal, social, economic, environmental and technological contexts are also developed.
Biology is a worthwhile educational experience, whether or not you are intending to study it beyond GCSE. It is a suitable preparation for careers which require a knowledge and understanding of Biology and its related skills.
Biology involves practical work as well as theory. It is intended that the use of a variety of approaches to study, will stimulate interest, promote understanding and engender an overall appreciation and sense of wonder at the living world.
